The business uses Workflow Management for purchases and contract approval. With the purpose of replacing Workflow Management with SAP BPA, we have used the SAP Build Automation Process to demonstrate the pros and cons compared with Workflow Management in SAP BTP. As part of the review and configuration of SAP BPA and SAP Build Work Zone, we set up a Task Center to find the limitations of using a single point of task approval. The connection between Task Center and SAP BPA was quite easy to achieve, either if Task Center is in the same subaccount or in a different subaccount. The connection with SAP S/4HANA proved to be simple once you have installed the required Product version of S4HANA. And finally, we also managed to achieve the connection with Ariba Buying and Cockpit, with some restrictions regarding the Identity Authentication Services (IAS) and the Identity Provisioning Service (IPS).
  • Configuration is easy to follow.
  • Low code requirement.
  • Friendly user interface.
  • There is not much information regarding the configuration of IAS and IPS.
  • SAP Configuration manuals are hard to follow as the steps are not always in order.
As mentioned, the integration between SAP Build Work Zone and SAP BPA, SAP S/4HANA, and Ariba was easy to follow once all requirements were met. However, there is not much information, or at least the SAP Documentation is not easy to follow to set up the right landscape that meets all the requirements; this was the case with the IAS and IPS configuration, where we needed the support of BTP Architects.

  • In my opinion, the filter are not user user friendly
  • In my experience, multitenancy not supported
  • deployment for IOS application documentation need improvement I believe.
  • multitenancy
  • theme support like we have it in fiori
  • should have support to build much complex application too like tax product where we have requirement to see many col in one shot
Quick mobile development, the drag and drop features are great. SAP Build code is a cloud-based application development environment for Java and JavaScript that streamlines the software development process, enabling developers to build and deploy applications faster. It offers a comprehensive set of features, including pre-built integrations, guided templates, and built-in best practices, to accelerate development and ensure code quality. With its intuitive interface and fusion development capabilities, SAP Build fosters collaboration between developers and business experts, empowering them to create innovative solutions that meet the specific needs of their organizations.

The scope of the use case is to manage the onboarding in the IT department. The goal was to test the solution and understand how far we could go with it. In my experience, the main issue encountered is that it was not possible to retrieve the appropriate documentation. The discovery has been a good advice for our future experience.
  • Creation of user interface
  • UX harmonisation
  • Documentation
  • Tutorials
Well suited case is the management of task for technicians or declarations of activity. In my opinion, it's less appropriate is when we start to have complex interaction with the backend. the bar code scanning feature is nice but the qr code feature was difficult to handle on logistics topics in my experience. In my experience, the Storage of attachment was challenging.

We use SAP Build to set up Automations mostly, but we use them mostly internal and as PoCs. We are in the middle of getting all our consultants verified, so we plan to start using it way more excessifly. We also realize that a lot of customers have heard of Build, and are really keen on starting to use it.<br>
  • Automating basic workflows
  • Opening development to more employees
  • Letting us think in new ways for some Use Cases
  • Connection with other BTP services
  • Easier Destination services
  • Still some LoQ bugs like timing out in big automations
If colleagues come to me with use cases that arent to complex, I mostly recommend them SAP Build. Also if the budget is getting thight or the deadline is getting thight, you can easily and quickly have a basic App or flow, whuch you can then already have as a basis for the next steps in the automation

We use SAP Build in our organization for improved user experience, accelerated development, reduced costs, and enhanced collaboration. The business problem the product addresses is not able to reuse the components of one page into another page in build apps and having limited components to use. We wanted to be able to leverage the customer experience and ease of development and have quick development of mobile apps with different integrations.
  • Less development time
  • Full stack development
  • Integrations with SAP and non-SAP systems
  • Workflows and processes
  • Limited development platform support
  • Reusability of components in SAP Build apps
  • Desktop agent not available for Mac OS
  • Offline mode
  • Accessibility features
Well-suited scenarios are early-stage prototyping, user-centered design, mobile app development, and integration with SAP solutions.

Less appropriate scenarios are complex interaction, not fit for large-scale projects, low budgets, or small teams, and making applications offline.

We are developing new applications with SAP Build Apps and automation processes with SAP Build Process Automation. While developing, my team is facing problems and we are seeing bugs and limitations. We are planning to use SAP Build Apps, SAP Build Process Automation and SAP Build work zone to build simple applications and planning to train citizen developers to save some time for professional developers.
  • Low Code
  • Drag and Drop
  • Odata mapping
  • Step by step scenarios
SAP Build is well suited to simple scenarios and complex scenarios less appropriate.

We had a solid business case where the business user was performing mundane tasks when it came to site / new store openings. Post-COVID, there has been a retail boom, and the industry is back and kicking. This means more store openings. Store openings, as delightful as it would be for the organization, become a headache for the Business to use the existing processes that were pretty manual and mundane. The Process required the business user to perform certain Excel tasks, upload files in SAP, and then do some transactions to have the store create the articles listed correspondingly. We identified this as the first solid business case to apply SAP's offering of Build Apps and Automation in order to automate this kind of task with a click of a button on a form. The user was only expected to enter the article numbers that he wanted to be listed, and the form / or the bot did the rest. This activity, which takes several weeks to complete, is done by the bot in a matter of minutes.
  • Unattended Automation.
  • Attended automation.
  • Connecting to the backend SAP system (ECC or S/4).
  • Can also talk to non SAP world.
  • Doesn't require skills strictly pertaining to BPA. In fact, even a RPA developer can build logic.
  • Particularly for the ECC model, only BAPIs or screen recordings work.
  • Connectivity to SAP Business suite is slightly complex.
Refreshing screen, good UI, and most importantly - the ability of the unattended bot is something eye-catching. Although we did have some challenges replicating the "foreground" mode, we loved the ability of the tool to navigate from one screen to another in the background with absolutely no manual intervention. Building the logic from a Developer's standpoint is also not that complex. As I said before, even an RPA developer could get into the system and start building the algorithm.

SAP Build has turned out to be a comprehensive BTP offering which now contains the build workzone ( standard and advanced addition), Build Apps and Robotic process automation. This is a right direction toward no-code low-code.
  • Since entry point for FIORI apps connecting to multiple SAP systems
  • Citizen developers can try building mini apps
  • citizen developers can try to automate daily tasks
  • Offline mode for OData
  • roles for apps created by citizen developers
Single entry point for all FIORI apps connecting to multiple SAP systems. But not only that, you can embed WebGUI T Codes, webdynpro/FPM apps and NW portal as well - all in one single screen. No more navigation to a new window.

My team made a few proof-of-concept projects with SAP Build. What we found was the app was able to help streamline some of the project creation process, however, we also found that SAP Build would be more beneficial for simpler apps and not able to meet the needs we have for the company. We don't believe we will be moving forward with SAP Build in favor of other sap business solutions.
  • It helps generate code as a low code environment
  • More helpful for simpler apps
  • faster to deploy apps
  • not of a of room for more complex app requirements
I think it would be more helpful when the apps are simpler and you don't expect it to grow in complexity. It is also easier for someone with less coding experience to create since it uses a lot of no code, drag and drop ui creation. I don't think it is worth learning for someone who is already experienced in other sap technologies.

We have used SAP Build Apps to develop applications (like check in for drivers) for different site users from our client. We have integrated SAP build with S/4 Systems. Due to No code feature it is extensively used by functional consultant.
  • No code feature for SAP users
  • Build process automation for workflows
  • Build user friendly Web and mobile applications
  • missing documentation in app development
  • more feature must be added in UI just like Fiori application
  • number of scenario are less that can be built using LCNC
Our site users used SAP build to automate workflow processes and tasks. This does not include the Logic or code everything was done using drag-and-drop and AI capabilities.

We use SAP Build Applications to build apps that integrate with our S/4 environment. These applications are then used by our site users from our Client that we are working with.
  • No-code process automation
  • To automate workflow processes
  • Business website using build workzone
  • Using LCNC we can create limited scenarios
  • Lack of enhancements during application development using Build Apps
  • UI can be more user friendly. Just like Fiori launchpad applications.
I am SAP Functional Consultant , so it's quite easy to use especially for citizen developers.
We can build apps using drag and drop tools even without any coding experience. So I will definitely recommend SAP Build.

We use SAP AppGyver to design apps in a no-code way. SAP AppGyver offers an enterprise-level solution for practically no cost at all. Our external databases in Airtable can be integrated easily with SAP AppGyver and the app can be exported in full with the possibility to own the source code completely. While Bubble and other no-code apps are also available, being free of cost, SAP AppGyver was an optimal solution for us to design apps that are for non-profit.
  • External Databases Integration
  • Drag and Drop logic editor
  • Component Market
  • Community support
  • Ready pre-designed components are very less right now
  • Design flow is less intuitive compared to other solutions in the market
  • Collaborative development feature was not available when we used it
For someone who is trying to build a no-code app without having to invest any money, SAP AppGyver can be a go-to solution. There is some learning curve involved but the community support and a few YouTube tutorials can get you going in no time. All the dynamic functionalities that you can imagine including integration of external databases is available. SAP AppGyver's Logic Editor is probably the most powerful function of the software.

Currently we are using SAP RPA in multiple areas within Tenneco on our Clean Air division. The main business problem this has been addressing is automating manual download processes from SAP and placing data files on shared networks where they can be used for additional processing.
  • Works well with automation within SAP
  • Has standard packages for integrations between excel, word, FS, etc
  • Allows for flexibility with JavaScript programmers
  • Not extremely user friendly
  • Non IT based users can not use it to develop their own stuff - they require IT
  • Doesn't always work well with a VM
Well Suited
  • RPA works well when downloading and extracting data from SAP variants/reports, and inputting values into standard fields
  • Reading and loading data from Excel
Less appropriate
  • Complexity

Robotic Process Automation is being used to streamline processes within Mercury. It is predicted this will be the way most users access Mercury.
  • RPA streamlines processes while saving time.
  • RPA allows our users to spend time on more valuable tasks.
  • RPA decreases human errors.
  • Analytics and reporting could be better.
SAP IRPA is well suited for our staff to enter general information when procuring items for the firm. We believe it will also play a large role in how users enter time.
